Itinerary
Start of the Tour
Between 5:30 and 6:00 am we pass by your hotel in Cusco to start this experience towards one of the most impressive sites in the southern Andes. We will travel approximately 3 hours until we reach the charming town of Acomayo.
Stop in Acomayo
Upon arrival, you will have free time to use the toilets, buy hydrating drinks or snacks before continuing the trip. Then, we will board the mobility again to head for 30 minutes towards the community of Rinconada (3800 masl), the starting point of the hike.
Start of the Hike
The adventure begins with imposing views of the Apurímac Canyon and rocky formations that announce the proximity to the archaeological complex. After a brief explanation from the guide, we will start the hike appreciating the typical flora and fauna of the area.
Exploration of Waqrapukara
We will arrive at the majestic Waqrapukara, an ancestral ceremonial site surrounded by an impressive landscape. Here we will have time to explore, take pictures and learn about its history and cultural meaning.
Return to Acomayo
After the visit, we will start the return towards Acomayo, where we will enjoy a comforting field lunch. Finally, our mobility will be ready to return to Cusco.
