Humantay Lake: an unforgettable hike to a natural paradise in the Andes
Itinerary
Start of the Tour
Between 4:00 am and 4:30 am, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to start this incredible adventure towards one of the most impressive destinations in Peru.
Breakfast in Mollepata
After the pick-up, we will travel to the picturesque town of Mollepata, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast that will prepare us for the hike.
Trip to Soraypampa
After breakfast, we continue to Soraypampa (3,900 meters above sea level). There we will have time to prepare, arrange equipment and receive instructions before starting the hike.
Hike to Humantay Lake
We will begin the hike to the majestic Humantay Lake, located at 4,200 meters above sea level. The ascent takes between 1 hour and 30 minutes at a normal pace or 2 hours if you prefer to go more calmly. Those who wish can choose to rent a horse to ease the path.
Arrival at Humantay Lake
Around 10:30 am we will arrive at this magical place of turquoise waters surrounded by imposing mountains. The guide will explain the history, cultural meaning and role of Apu Humantay. We will have 1 hour and 30 minutes to enjoy the landscape, take pictures, walk around the lake or simply relax.
Descent to Soraypampa
After the visit we will begin the descent towards Soraypampa, which will be faster than the ascent.
Lunch in Soraypampa
Upon arriving at the camp, we will enjoy a local lunch with traditional dishes of the region.
Return to Cusco
Finally, at 5:30 pm we will board our transport to return to Cusco, where our tour will conclude.
